Meet the Team: Spring 2023

One of our favorite parts of this business journey is getting to meet so many kindreds along the way! We love seeing all the exciting places you wear your dresses too, and being a part of so many of the gifts you send, special occasions, and memories!

It’s been a while since the last time we’ve shared some about our team here in Northern Virginia, so here are a few fun facts about us!

Rebekah:

  • What is your favorite season? And what is your favorite activity to do in that season?
My favorite season is spring! Autumn is a close second, but I love the complete surprise that spring can feel like every year. I forget how beautiful the world can be each time the flowers and foliage come back to life. Exploring nature, hiking, picnics with friends, and gardens are all my favorite places to find myself.
  • What is something you’re learning right now? Skill, hobby, life lesson, etc…
I have been trying to learn more about clothing alterations. Subtle adjustments can make a massive difference in the fit of a garment, and since I’m not a standard body type (very tall!), I’m making more of an effort to learn how to make clothes fit well. My world revolves around managing production sewing for the brand, but I’d like to get much better at sewing myself.
  • What’s the dish you’ve been wanting to make, Or food you’ve been wanting to try but haven’t yet?
Recently got this cookbook called ONE by Jamie Oliver. I enjoy his recipes and love that he created these videos to accompany them. I appreciate watching someone make something first so I feel more comfortable experimenting. I’m excited to cook through it!

Colleen:

  • What is something you’re learning right now? Skill, hobby, life lesson, etc…
I’ve been volunteering/working with a non-profit for several years now, and recently I’ve learned more web skills to better serve there. I’ve been doing editing for them for quite a while and also enjoy expanding my grammatical/writing skills.
  • Is there something particular you’re looking forward to or excited about this year?
I have a passion for missions and just went to Guatemala and helped give medical aid in rural areas. I have played the French horn for over a decade and love being able to play at evangelistic campaigns in other countries. Helping others who are less fortunate is always such a fulfilling, eye-opening experience.
  • What is your favorite season? And what is your favorite activity to do in that season?
This question is way to hard… First off, let me just say, Virginia is the best place to live because we have all four seasons (and I’m definitely not biased at all seeing as how I’ve lived here my whole life). I’ve always said autumn is my favorite because I love the fall colors and the cool evenings. But since my abosolute favorite pastime is playing volleyball with friends, I love the long days the come in the spring & continue through summer!

Jennie:

  • What is your favorite season? And what is your favorite activity to do in that season?
My favorite season is fall and there’s no better way to enjoy it than a camping trip. 😉
  • What is something you’re learning right now? Skill, hobby, life lesson, etc…
I’m currently having fun experimenting with tapestry crochet.
  • Is there something particular you’re looking forward to or excited about this year?
I’m looking forward to expanding my garden this year.
  • What’s the dish you’ve been wanting to make, Or food you’ve been wanting to try but haven’t yet?
I’ve been wanting to try making rabbit coq au vin!

Emily:

  • What is your favorite season? And what is your favorite activity to do in that season?
I love spring best, because the sun cuts through the winter breeze, and I can go outside barefoot again.
  • What is something you’re learning right now? Skill, hobby, life lesson, etc…
Reading the book ‘Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat’ (plus watching MasterChef) has inspired me to be more confident in the kitchen. I’m having so much fun in the process of learning what makes food delicious!
  • Is there something particular you’re looking forward to or excited about this year?
I’m looking forward to getting engaged. (Well, he has to propose sometime, it may as well be this year!)
  • What’s the dish you’ve been wanting to make, Or food you’ve been wanting to try but haven’t yet?
I don’t care if it takes me all day, I want to make authentic French macarons.

Hanna:

  • What’s the dish you’ve been wanting to make, Or food you’ve been wanting to try but haven’t yet?
I’ve been wanting to make Coq au Vin for a year now but just haven’t found the right occasion yet. If anyone has made it before, I’d love any tips you have to share!
  • What is your favorite season? And what is your favorite activity to do in that season?
I think my favorite season is a tie between spring and fall, but I love that in NOVA we get a healthy dose of all four! In spring, I love to take picnics (sometimes solo and sometimes with friends) by the Shenandoah River. I’ll bring a book, my camera, or a journal and just enjoy a walk by the river.
  • Is there something particular you’re looking forward to or excited about this year?
I’m doing a 100 mile hiking challenge with my brother this year, and I’m really looking forward to all the new sites I’ll see in the process.

We hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know us a little more, and we’d love it if you’d share your answers to these questions below so we can get to know you better too!
